About Us

Humble Beginnings

Emil Bergdolt founded American Mortgage Service Company
Emil Bergdolt
American Mortgage Service Company started its operations at the Gwynne Building in downtown Cincinnati on July 9th, 1975. Emil and Elvera Bergdolt founded American Mortgage Service Company in an effort to help individuals realize the dream of home ownership by working with a reputable, honest and family based company.

In 1990, Ed Wolterman became part owner of the American Mortgage Service Company when he partnered with the Bergdolts. In October 1991, Emil Bergdolt passed away, leaving Ed to manage the company. Elvera is still a shareholder in the company today.

In February of 2001, Bill Case joined American Mortgage after 14 years with a regional bank. He became Executive Vice President in 2002 and then President and CEO in April of 2010. Mr. Case joined the ownership group in 2008.

Growth

Over the years, American Mortgage Service Company has expanded over 30 locations, lending throughout Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, Arkansas, Michigan, Mississippi, Alabama and West Virginia. Extraordinary growth in recent years necessitated a relocation of the company headquarters. In 2007, the corporation purchased and fully renovated a building at 11503 Springfield Pike in the Cincinnati suburb of Springdale.

In 1977, the company closed $31 million in home loans. By 2009, American Mortgage Service Company increased the annual volume to nearly $700 million in home loans. The company has loaned almost $6 billion since they first opened their doors in 1975.

American Mortgage Service Company has successfully focused its core business development over the years on relationship growth with real estate agents, home builders and former customers. In the early 2000’s American Mortgage expanded into internet lending. In 2010, American Mortgage acquired the AmericanMortgage.com domain name in order to engage a whole new business of on-line lead generation, mortgage information and social networking for the home mortgage business.

The Future

Today American Mortgage Service Company is still a privately held family company with a commitment to integrity, trust, and honesty. We hope to continue to serve our customers as we have since 1975 for many more years to come.
